Darcey earned a Bachelor of Commerce (BCOM), majoring in Finance and Economics, from the University of Melbourne in 2020. He later completed a Master of Property (MC-Prop) at the same institution, a globally top-10 ranked program at the time, graduating in 2023 with the highest weighted average mark for that program in the university’s history. He was awarded Dean’s Honours for three consecutive years, recognising performance within the top 1% of his cohort, and received the Australian Property Institute Prize as 2023 cohort dux.
Darcey began his career with Lyons Group under the leadership of entrepreneur Angus Reed, where he contributed to the evaluation and strategy of both domestic and international real estate private equity transactions totalling approximately $600 million. In 2022, he played a pivotal role in the strategic transformation of TasRex, leading its repositioning from ammonia production to renewable energy infrastructure. His work in financial modelling, presentation of the new story and investor engagement attracted global private equity interest, with indicative term sheets valuing the business at over a tenfold increase within six months. Darcey is a founding member and continues to advise TasRex as its inhouse financial analyst.
More recently, Darcey is co-leading the strategic business planning and leveraged buyout of a PFAS remediation technology company. From this, he has helped initiate a pioneering regulatory model enabling Australia’s first large-scale PFAS immobilisation project. This project is in contract and delivers lasting environmental benefit by permanently reducing harmful “forever chemicals,” while aligning the interests of regulators, communities, and commercial stakeholders.
